iVE: Guidelines of Use and Privacy Policy

Toorak College provides iVE (Interactive Virtual Environment) to support the learning, teaching and operational needs of the School and for communication between members of the Toorak College Community residing within Australia and internationally. Use of iVE by Staff and Students is governed by School policy which is deemed to be accepted at login time. These guidelines are a summary of School policy that is primarily intended for Toorak College Parents, however they apply to anyone that has access to iVE.


Regardless of your relationship with Toorak College, iVE must only be used to support the learning, teaching and operational activities of Toorak College. Take care when adding information to iVE. In particular, make sure that what you add is not offensive, threatening, defamatory, racist, discriminatory or illegal. Inappropriate use of iVE may result in the loss of access to iVE for the person or people responsible and in the event that the inappropriate use is illegal the matter will be referred to Police.

 

You must be an authorised account holder in the Toorak College School Network. It is illegal to use another person’s account and/or password.

 

Note that iVE is designed with an "open" philosophy in relation to information sharing and communication. This means that in general terms the information within iVE is accessible, however, if required additional steps can be taken to secure information. Particularly sensitive information shouldn't be stored in iVE.

 

There are ways of ensuring that information is only visible to certain groups of users. Please contact the Director of ICT and eLearning if you want advice on this. Remember, you are responsible for the information you publish on iVE.


Toorak College continuously monitors the use of iVE to ensure that use complies with the above guidelines. Any information that you contribute to iVE is identifiable to you along with the date and time of the contribution. Individual iVE pages may be inspected for compliance with the above guidelines at any time.

 

Copyright and Intellectual Property

 

All content must meet Copyright licence agreements and use the recognised standards of acknowledgement and recognition. Content must meet Copyright and Intellectual Property guidelines when content is reproduced from another source.
